If you think ChatGPT is the only game in town, you're leaving money on the table.
The AI landscape has fractured into highly specialized models, and the battle between OpenAI and Anthropic (the creators of Claude) is producing incredible tools for marketers. But you have to know how to use them.
The OpenAI Ecosystem: The Automation Engine
OpenAI's GPT models are the undisputed kings of the ecosystem. Their API infrastructure, function calling capabilities, and integration with virtually every SaaS platform make them the default choice for building automated workflows.
When we build a system that needs to read an email, extract contact information, update a CRM, and draft a response, we almost always use OpenAI. It's robust, predictable, and the tooling is unmatched.
Claude: The Writer's Secret Weapon
But when it comes to long-form content, nuanced reasoning, and brand voice, Anthropic's Claude is playing a different game entirely.
Claude (specifically the Opus and Sonnet 3.5 models) has an almost eerie ability to capture human tone. While ChatGPT often defaults to a recognizable "AI voice" (lots of "moreovers" and "delves"), Claude can adopt a specific stylistic framework and maintain it across a 3,000-word document.
For marketers, Claude is the ultimate writing partner. We use it to synthesize customer interviews, draft high-converting landing page copy, and develop brand messaging guidelines.
The Multi-Model Strategy
The smartest agencies aren't choosing one or the other. They're building multi-model workflows.
A typical workflow in our agency looks like this:
- OpenAI scrapes a competitor's website and extracts the core feature set.
- Perplexity researches current market sentiment and recent news about those features.
- Claude takes that raw data and drafts a compelling, human-sounding comparison page.
- OpenAI formats the output into clean HTML/React components for immediate deployment.
Don't Get Attached
The models change every few months. The model that was best at coding in January might be second-best by March.
The competitive advantage isn't knowing which model is best today. It's building your marketing infrastructure in a way that allows you to swap models instantly when a better one drops.
The arms race is accelerating. Make sure you're using all the weapons available.
